I’m a hardcore book worm. Below is a list of books that I’ve read and would recommend to anyone. If you’re cool, you’ll buy a few from this list so I can continue to feed my habit.
General Programming
The deeper I get into my career, the more I realize the importance of general programming knowledge. Since I’m not an academically trained programmer (my degree is in Digital Media), I’m learning this stuff as I go. I owe a great deal to the authors of these books as they have caused me to grow immensly over the years.
PHP
PHP and I go way back (since version 3 to be exact). Unfortunately, the books that have been written on the subject have been pretty bad — which doesn’t help the platform’s reputation out at all. These books, however, I find to be quite exceptional.
JavaScript
JavaScript has got to be one of the coolest languages I’ve ever had the pleasure of going deep with. However, much like PHP, JavaScript’s list of good books is prety slim. This list, shows some of the best ones I’ve come across so far.
History
Not everything I read is geeky. History has also been of great significance to me recently. After watching Ken Burns’ Civil War, I was hooked. This is a category of reading where I don’t spend enough time. Please don’t hesitate to make some recommendations to me.
Books I Don’t Recommend
Last, and certainly the least, are the books I do not recommend. For whatever reason, these books just didn’t sit right with me.
